Adam Clayton signed his Pop era piccy inside the booklet...
It is now story time!
It was the day before the LA Dress rehearsal. A few friends and I had waited patiently all day. Keep in mind, the Sports Arena is not in the nicest of neighborhoods. In fact, it's in So. Central LA.
From our lil spot across from the Sports Arena, we could hear U2 play songs. We'd almost pee ourselves as we heard yet another long lost classic... "Gloria", "An Cat Dubh /Into The Heart"...
As night came, we waited patiently... finally just after midnight... out comes Adam Clayton!
He walked the line of the 20 or so people, taking pictures and signing things.
He was more than happy to answer questions.
ME - Will you be playing "Even Better Than The Real Thing" this tour?
ADAM - "I don't think so as we played it a lot on the last few tours."
ME - "You only played it 10 times on the Elevation tour; 11 if you count the promo show in Paris".
ADAM - (laughed) "You fans always know these things better than us".
ME - "A Man And A Woman" had one of his slinkiest and sexy bass lines.
ADAM - "Yeah, it's one of my favorite bass lines on the album."
ME - Will you be playing it on this tour?"
ADAM - "I don't think so".
Bono was the next to come out. The limo came out of the parking lot and then The B-Man approached the line of us. He was in good spirits, answered questions (I'd asked if they'd play "Mercy". Bono was surprised that I'd heard it. He joked "So YOU'VE got The Edge's missing CD". Before signing he asked: "How do you spell buffalo?" I spelled it for him and hence, his signing my CD booklet "Buffalo Bono".
A few mins later, another limo came out of the gate. It passed us by and we let out a collective sad "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..." but then... the limo stopped and backed up. There was then a collective "Yay!". Out popped our guitar hero - The Edge. He walked down the line of us, shaking hands and greeting each of us. After getting to me and the end of the line, he excused himself and went back to the front of the line to take pictures and sign autographs. Now THAT - is class.
Here's a piccy of Bono with someone very near and dear to me.

Another cool thing that I have collected is original BOY, OCTOBER and UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY CD's in DIGIPAK packaging. (MINT condition) WITH the original LONG BOXES. (Remember those?)
Admittedly, I paid WAY too much for them on E-Bay. Each was in a separate auction. But being a silly U2 fan and collector... I HAD to have them! I mean, COME ON... they were in MINT condition!
(How's that for rationalizing?)
Oh yes... I also have the cardboard sleeve version The Best of 1980-1990 and The Best of 1990-2000 . (both were promos). The Best of 1990-2000 I rec'd from a website for helping promote the release of The Best of 1990-2000 with banner ads and such on my U2 Atomic site. (Most of the gear stuff from U2 Atomic multiple sites are being consolidated into the newer all in one site ofGelieve in te loggen of jezelf te registreren om deze link te bekijken )
anyone of a 1986 era COH T-shirt on hand??? seen pictures of that tour shirt, just never seen a actual one that is!!!! SUN CITY
- First, I must say, I admire your enthusiasm.
- Second, I truly do not mean any disrespect.
- Third, many have mentioned that they are not so happy with with being asked whether we have "(item in questions)" and then if we are willing to part with it.
Again, I mean no disrespect but if we have something that we want to part with, chances are we will offer it up or sell it via E-Bay or the like.
I respectfully ask that you cease from constantly requesting the latest item that you've learned of and want...
Also, if we have a video or recording... we will post it. If we can't find it, we can't post it. There is no need to constantly PM members and 'remind' us to look for, find, distribute the video / audio in question.
Again, I do admire your enthusiasm. And I do not mean any disrespect.

Good times!
EDIT - That kinda stuff never* happens in the UK lol! Next time you see them, tell Edge that if they don't play WGRYWH on the next tour (if only for the UK legs) I'll go apeshit lol. In fact, write up a list of songs that everyone suggests for them to include at some point!
*I originally put "always", as Jeff's response will show, but I didn't mean that lol...

You should know me well enough to know that I have a small list that I have been feeding Edge, Dallas to feed to Edge and to Adam.
During Elevation I'd mentioned "An Cat Dubh" to Dallas, Edge, Bono and Adam. Maybe it sunk in, and that is why it finally got played? Maybe Joe O'Herlihy mentioned it? Maybe Gavin Friday requested it; as they often listen to his thoughts and opinions.
On my short-list are "God Part II" and "Hawkmoon 269". Dallas has also been bringing up "God Part II" for a while. These (2) songs also fall under the "Come on, ya gotta... you've not yet played either in the US yet!, rationale.

lol, I am aware of your "feed" to the guys, but like I say, just make sure they play WGRYWH and Electric Co. at any/all of the UK shows, because I WILL get to at least one of them lol! (and I entirely agree about God Part II aswell! My idea for the perfect encore opener...)
And Gerard will do his nut if you don't put in the good word for Ultra-Violet

I'm with you on "UltraViolet" and "Who's Gonna Ride...". I about peed myself when I heard the bootleg of them playing it for the first time on Vertigo... Boston, I think...
SO no one wants me to fax The Edge and request "Red Light" from War? Hahahaha

Yeah, the Boston boot (2005-05-28) is awesome. The encore with Wild Horses gets my vote for best of all time , and when I was on YouTube and saw videos (without watching them) that suggested full electric performances for the Vertigo tour, I was also going ape lol.
